Today I wanted to share a helpful hint that is quite possibly the easiest thing ever, that, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before now. The front of my sewing machine has a little teensy tiny “guide” that gives you little lines at the front for different seam allowances. They are tiny and can’t really be seen especially when you are sewing and moving fabric in front of it. I can’t ever see them, and often, the fabric shifts and I can’t see where the seam allowance should be. Today, I remedied that problem. All I did was take a ruler and make a line, then I made little hash marks where the different allowances would be. I made a little line on the bobbin case cover (sorry I don’t know the real word for it, or what it is called because I taught myself) where “0” should go, and then, put the line/ruler right there, and put clear packing tape over that, and then cut around it so there was no extra tape hanging off. Worked perfectly. I love how it turned out, and, I can see so much easier where the seam allowance actually is. Perfect. Share with all your sewing friends, to show them how to do this and it is so easy, I don’t know why I didn’t do it before.
